DESCRIPTION:Global Game Jam is the worlds largest game jam! \nThe goal of Global Game Jam is to bring people together to create video games or non-digital games\, like a board or card games. Participants\, also known as jammers\, work together to rapidly prototype game designs and hopefully create inspiring new ideas that contribute to the growth of the games industry. All Global Game Jam sites share a common theme and jam diversifiers – sub-themes that provide additional\, but optional\, structure to jammers. We ask participants to create an original game inspired by the jam’s theme within a prescribed time no larger than 48 hours. The brief time span is meant to help encourage creative thinking to result in small\, but innovative\, experimental games. Please note: Global Game Jam is not a competition.\nAt Global Game Jam Brisbane (BGGJ) we will be part of the international game making the event to making games and have fun. \nGlobal Game Jam is your chance to: \n– Get into Game Development \n– Make that game you have been thinking about \n– Network. If you’re interested in joining this growing group\, then we hope you’ll come along to EnergyLab’s CleanTech Hackathon! \nThis event is designed to bring people interested in cleantech startups together to brainstorm\, develop and demonstrate new business concepts. Over the course of a weekend we’ll help you find teammates (if you don’t have a team already)\, come up with a cleantech startup idea\, and refine it ready to present to a panel of judges. In 1994\, at the age of 23\, Steve put his life savings of $11\,000 to launch his first start-up\, the pioneering internet service provider SE Net\, from the spare room of his Adelaide home. SE Net was eventually acquired by Ozemail/UUNet under the stewardship of its founding Director and now Prime Minister\, Malcolm Turnbull. \nIn 2001\, Steve and a schoolmate launched his second start-up\, PIPE Networks\, a provider of wholesale telecoms infrastructure that listed on the ASX in 2005. Eight years later TPG Group acquired it for $373m. Steve spent a year with Google in California in 2008\, leading a project to deliver high-speed telecommunications systems across North America. \nSince 2010 he has become a major early stage investor in startups leading to the founding of Brisbane tech startup hub River City Labs\, founded and underwrote the Startup Catalyst and River Pitch programs; he has been on the listed boards of Vocus Telecoms\, Indoor Skydive Australia Group and OtherLevels as well as on the board of Commercialisation Australia. He has been heavily involved in the early days or founding of numerous industry groups and forums\, including the South Australian Internet Association\, South Australian Internet Exchange\, Australian Domain Name Authority\, AuDA\, INTIAA\, IIA\, AusBone and AusNOG. \nHe has been a Shark on Channel 10’s Shark Tank Australia for the past three seasons. In 2006 Steve received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Northern Region. In 2016\, he received the Pearcey Medal for Lifetime Achievement in recognition of distinguished lifetime achievement and contribution to the development and growth of the ICT industry.\nSteve is currently Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur in which he works to build the profile of entrepreneurship. \nDr Glen Richards – Investor\, ‘Shark’\, and Founding Managing Director of Greencross Ltd \nGlen was the Founding Managing Director (until 2014) and Foundation Shareholder of Greencross Ltd (Australia’s largest veterinary group with a network of veterinary businesses across Australia); He is a Foundation Non- Exec Director and Shareholder of Petbarn Pty Ltd\, (Australia’s leading pet retailer with large format pet stores across Australia and New Zealand)\, and is a past Non-Exec director of Lyppard Australia\, one of Australia’s leading Veterinary wholesalers.\nGlen retired from his executive role at Greencross Ltd in December 2014.
